Facial Reflexology

Facial Reflexology is a recent addition to the growing types of Reflexology available.

It is not new, and the current form is based on ancient treatments used in Eastern Medicine and many of the techniques were also practised in South American countries.

It is similar to foot and hand Reflexology in many ways in that it uses pressure points on the face to stimulate various organs within the body

Facial Reflexology.
Facial Reflexology is a fairly new method of treatment in the West but it is based on several ancient traditions including Chinese and Vietnamese Body Maps, Acupressure and Acupuncture, traditional South American Indian Facial Maps and modern Western understanding of neurological points on the face.
It is similar in some respects to foot and hand Reflexology in that it works through the meridians sending impulses to specific organs of the body via the central nervous system which helps to relax and re-balance the body. The facial stimulation also helps cause the release of serotonin and and endorphins which produce a calmness and help reduce stress, depression and anxiety.
A relaxed and stress free body shows a greater propensity for healing itself, resisting infection and combating disease. Facial Reflexology is completely non-intrusive and safe for all age-groups, and is often a more suitable option for expectant mothers.
Sessions usually last about 40-50 mins., but the first one may take slightly longer. It is not required that you wear any special clothes but it is suggested you avoid wearing cosmetics.
Some of conditions that Reflexologists report they have helped are:-
Anxiety, depression, stress
Back pain
Headaches/migraines
Insomnia
Muscular aches and pains
Some Arthritic conditions
Digestive problems

Facial Reflexology is based on a recognised medical theory (introduced by Dr. William H. Fitzgerald (1872-1942) which uses the concept that energy within the body flows through ten vertical zones that run from head to toe. When pressure is applied to a specific facial reflex point, it will stimulate an identifiable muscle tissue, thereby increasing oxygen flow, blood flow, and eliminating the toxins in that area.
