Reflexology during Pregnancy

It is generally recognised that the use of Reflexology during pregnancy can be helpful to the expectant Mothe and the unborn child, so much so that many NHS hospitals welcome Reflexologists into their wards.
As a precaution it might be reassuring to discuss this with your GP before undertaking any sessions.

Reflexology during Pregnancy

It is generally recognised that Reflexology is helpful both during and after pregnancy but most reflexologists advise that treatment should not be started until after the first twelve weeks, allowing your body to adjust to the hormonal changes it will be undergoing.
Many recipients report that it provides a great feeling of relaxation, general health and well-being and an increase in energy levels. Reflexology generally increases the removal of bodily fluid and waste thus reduces the ankle and feet swelling often associated with pregnancy.
Some of the benefits expectant mothers achieve from reflexology sessions are:-
• Anxiety and stress relief
• Backache
• Blood pressure regulation
• Constipation
• Haemorrhoids
• Insomnia and sleep disorders
• Muscular tension
• Nausea and vomiting
• Cystitis Digestive problems
• Increase energy levels
• Sciatica
• Reduce heartburn
• Muscular Fatigue
• Appetite regulation
Oedema {swelling, mainly of feet and ankles}
